2012 Bishop ShirazThis South Australian 2012 ‘Bishop’ Shiraz was produced from the small sub-region of the northern Barossa Valley, called Ebenezer; located in south Australia. The growing season was ideal for the vines at the Glaetzer Vineyard that year and the Glaetzer family vintners made very good use of the fortunate circumstance. The batch is a blend of fruit from 35 year-old vines and 130 year-old vines, which results in a nice balance.  A little research explains that the young vines provide fresh and vibrant fruit, while the older vines give add bolder structure to enhance the profile of the wine.  Age for 14 months in a a 90/10 blend of French and American Oak with a big hand of know-how from the winemaker, and you have ‘Glaetzer’s 2012 Bishop Shiraz’.
