The Irish Flag Shot is a classic St. Patrick’s Day tradition at bars and pubs around the world.

irish flag shotIf this is your first time trying to layer a drink, mind the secrets below and remember – practice makes perfect.

Ingredients:

  1. 3/4 ounce green Creme de Menthe
  2. 3/4 ounce Irish Cream
  3. 3/4 ounce Brandy

Method:

There are two secrets to layered drinks.

Layer in a pony glass or a tapered shot glass for best results.  

Use a spoon held with the curved back facing up over the glass and very close to the layer below and gently dribble the pour over the spoon so it doesn’t break the surface of the layer below.  Pour too fast and you’ve got a mixed drink…

  • Pour the first ingredient into the glass.
  • Pour the second ingredient over the back of the spoon slowly to create the second layer.
  • Pour the third ingredient over the back of the spoon slowly to create the third layer.
